BASIC SERVICE CALL

A basic service call includes balancing, tuning, and lubing the garage door and opener. We also conduct a safety inspection and inform homeowners of any issues we uncover. Lakewood Garage Door gives homeowners a fair assessment of whether their openers are repairable. Our trucks carry the following opener parts:

  • Gears

  • Batteries

  • Remotes

  • Travelers

  • Keyless entries

  • Sensors

  • Limit switches

Check List

  • Describe what is happening to the opener.

  • Does it buzz, hum, or make any noise? The type of noise helps us figure out what is wrong.

  • Do any of the opener lights come on?

  • Is the opener plugged in?

  • Check all circuit breakers and ground fault circuit outlets to see if any have been tripped.

  • Does the garage door open, but will not close?

  • Does the wall button need to be pushed continuously to close the garage door?

Sensor Misalignment

A common problem is the garage door will not close. The door starts to close, then reverses. Check the sensors at the bottom of the opening one is shooting an invisible light beam to the receiver on the other side of the door. If something breaks the beam, the garage door reverses, which is a safety feature. Garage door sensors have a small LED light on the side. If there is no light or it is flickering or flashing, the sensors are misaligned or may have other problems. These sensors get bumped all the time. Homeowners can loosen the little wing nut holding them in place to readjust them. Move the sensor until the light stops flickering or flashing, and the door should close.

Caution
If the sensor light is solid and the garage door does not close, it could mean a serious problem that needs immediate attention. DO NOT USE THE GARAGE DOOR! Something could be blocking the track. Or there is an issue with the garage door hardware, such as broken springs, damaged rollers, or misaligned tracks. Call us at 303-202-1233 or fill out our online form by clicking the button above.
